Insane Asylum Saddle review

Jump saddles get a hard time because they're often the first thing to hit the floor when things go wrong. Insane do their best to keep damage to a minimum by specifying burly 9mm rails, a plastic rear bumper, a Kevlar scuff strip.

Great jump saddle with plenty of crash protection

Jump saddles get a hard time because they're often the first thing to hit the floor when things go wrong.

Insane do their best to keep damage to a minimum by specifying burly 9mm rails, a plastic rear bumper, a Kevlar scuff strip, a tough heavy-duty nylon section above the Kevlar and an embroidered faux leather top (the embroidered face looks more like Albert Steptoe than anything else). Size wise, this is an abbreviated saddle as favoured by riders more interested in pulling moves than plugging miles. Overall the shape is good, although most will hardly get sat on.
