A suspension system that actually works. A good choice for all-day riding

The appearance of the Absolute from Selle Bassano wasn’t immediately a hit. The two silver bullet like projections at the back are actually part of the saddle’s suspension system.

It’s no gimmick and is a structure that actually works. The manganese rails are housed in the red i-beam structure with the carbon reinforced shell of the saddle also fastened to the red beam but on either side of the rails by the silver bullets. The effect is to give the rear a bit of up and down movement. Combine that with thick yet firm and supportive padding and the Absolute is a very comfortable all-day saddle. It does an excellent job of alleviating road buzz although the nose is a bit thin and hard for prolonged head-down racing. The suspension system forces the rails quite close together and it was a bit of a struggle to fit. But once on, the Absolute definitely stood out with its comfort, quality and appearance.
