Lightweight racing saddle that’s surprisingly comfortable

The Italian-made Selle Italia Signo represents the new thinking in saddle technology. It’s a pure racing saddle with a carbon hull and titanium rails, designed to both look and go fast.

Take one look at it and you might think it’ll be incredibly uncomfortable. Initial impressions backed this up, but we soon found that the special ‘memory foam’ moulded perfectly to our behinds, making for a comfortable fit. Along with springy Ti rails, the Signo uses Selle Italia’s Axial Pivot system. This uses elastomers to isolate the rails from the hull and help dissipate vibrations heading towards you from the frame.

That makes this a sub-180g saddle with ‘razor blade’ looks that in reality beats many trail saddles for comfort. It’s no armchair ride for all-day riders, but it’s ideal for those with a well developed pedalling style and a degree of finesse.
