Selle San Marco Aspide Glamour women's saddle review
San Marco have managed to turn out that rare product, a women’s performance saddle that actually looks as light as it is.
Rear end width apart, once it’s on the bike you could easily mistake it for a bloke’s race perch and the materials used in construction match the pricetag to perfection.
Hollow titanium rails soak up small vibrations but the shell is where the clever stuff starts. Firm EVA padding is only used where it’s needed; the majority of the Aspide’s comfort comes from the thin, flat shell.
The central channel relieves pressure and flexibility in the rear wings nullifies both trail shock and pedalling action – matched with a good chamois this is a winner for long hours in the saddle as well as race pace efforts.
We found the nose section a little wide, so if you’ve got sporty thighs then you may find baggies get hooked easily. We’d love to see a narrower version too, as not every woman needs a saddle that’s quite this wide.
