Our review
Great shape, comfortable and supportive, all the elements of a classic

The Aspide is another relatively new design finding favour among riders who get on with the shape. Its minimalist weight and sleek looks scream race but like the Specialized Toupe it has a big crossover for those tackling high miles at a more relaxed pace.

Like the Toupe the Aspide is also finding favour amongst mountain bike XC racers - a testament to its strength, low weight and comfort. The fit is wide, forgiving and supportive at the back with a comfortable transition to the nose. Like all minimalist race saddles the Aspide's shape will not be for everyone but it is worth having a go if you have some serious miles in your behind. With hardwearing Lorica upper, titanium rails and carbon reinforced shell to back up the minimalist design the Aspide has all the makings of a classic race saddle. At £64.95 it's not cheap but for such a saddle it has a good weight to cost ratio compared to the more exotic offerings at twice the price.
