Haven Alloy Seatpost (12)
If you’re after a seatpost that will take all the abuse and hard landings that normally bend or break other seatposts, then the Easton Haven alloy model is where your money should be heading to. We have been punishing this post for months on a hard-hitting trail bike used for taking on those white knuckle 50/50 craggy mountain trails where much of the time is spent landing on the saddle or dropping the bike onto the floor.
Despite breaking a saddle, the post itself has remained straight and never slipped a millimetre. The same strength that allows it to shrug off all that abuse also makes it one of the least comfort compliant seat posts we’ve used, therefore it’s not really the ideal choice for long, rough cross-country miles or for use on hardtails where you might value some built-in suspension feel. However, that trade off, if you’re a big hucker, clumsy, heavy or all three, makes it a worthwhile buy.
