Service Course is the new alloy range of finishing kit from legendary carbon-fibre wheel and trim connoisseurs Zipp. This seatpost still ticks all our light, easy-to-use, fit-and-forget boxes for those who want a conventional riding position.

While a lot of manufacturers experiment with single-bolt side-loading clamps to reduce weight at the expense of dependable security, Zipp have stuck with a rock-solid twin 5mm bolt seat clamp. They’ve inset the bolts into a big cutaway side-finned shaft head to give a full amount of layback (rearward saddle offset) which is something a lot of twin bolt seatposts sacrifice.

The long rail support cradle with a shorter top clamp section gives plenty of fore/aft adjustment too. That means finding your ideal saddle position and setting it securely is very easy. It’s been creak-free with both carbon-railed and metal saddle rails that we’ve tried and at 311g it’s not too heavy either. There’s a 50g lighter SL version for £99.99 too, although both posts only come in 27.2 and 31.6mm diameters.
