Efficient, very tough and light – a benchmark road touring tyre
Skip to view product specifications

Coonti’s venerable Top Touring was replaced with the Top Contact, which retains its predecessor’s tarmac-friendly centre rolling strip and dirtpath-gripping shoulder tread.

Puncture protection now comes from a Vectran breaker strip (a kind of polyester – used in space suits!) and it’s very effective: in this test, only the Marathon Plus is tougher.

Despite this it’s light for a touring tyre and it rolls well – better than some training tyres. There’s a reflective strip on the sidewalls and the price includes a free innertube.

Description For the serious touring cyclists - Handmade in Germany! No touring tyre has been able to make that claim for a long time. The Top Contact picks up where "Pneumatics, SuperCorsas and Top Tourings" left off.
Manufacturer's Description Just like its predecessors, it is ahead of its time thanks to new materials and design features. State of the art polymers in the rubber compound, Vectran breaker belts under the tread for the best and lightest puncture protection available in bicycles tyres today, and the prevailing German production quality all work to set the Top Contact apart from other touring tyres. This tyre was requested by the demanding German touring market, a German made tyre for hassle free heavy duty touring mileage. The tyre combines a tough construction with a touring specific tread pattern designed to roll well and provide good traction in adverse conditions at the same time. Two layers of Vectran fabric underneath the tread give unrivalled performance and puncture protection, with Vectran proven to be stronger and lighter than aramid belts. The Top Contact Winter contains sharp granules in the rubber compound, thus aiding grip in wet and snowy conditions.
