Good all-round performance, but could be lighter

The Crossfire, a joint venture between IRD and Panaracer, uses the tread pattern of the classic Panaracer Fire XC Pro mountain bike rubber but in 700x32mm cyclo-cross guise.

Its supple casing and multi-stepped blocks make it very predictable, and edge grip is impressive from dry to sticky conditions. It’s directional, but can be turned around to fine tune performance. It’s available in white/black, as well as white and black.

At 490g it’s not the lightest, the durable sidewalls are stiffer and heavier than some, and the closely spaced blocks add weight, but the Cross Fire grips and corners like a terrier, shedding mud well.
