Mavic’s Yksion Comp comes with their complete mid-range wheelsets but its decent all-round performance is also available aftermarket.
While the top Mavic Griplink and Powerlink tyres use different dual compound mixes front and rear, the Yksion uses a single ‘all weather’ compound. It’s certainly grippy enough to keep you confident in wet weather. The 120tpi carcass feels supple and reasonably quick on rough roads too, so the 25mm should be properly comfortable.
Wear and puncture protection are decent enough for daily commuting or high mileage training too, making these useful all-rounders whatever wheels you use.
