You get what you pay for – these are fine for a hack road bike build

The Erilium is a much cheaper stablemate to Michelin’s Krylion - even we couldn’t get hold of those rare-as-hens'-teeth tyres. It’s a Kevlar-reinforced training tyre that claims to offer great tread life and good grip.

Surely, at this price, something has to give? Well, yes – it does. The Erilium does offer some resistance to punctures, but it’s easier to pop than its pricier rivals.

It's not a particularly fast option either, but overall it's not bad, and unlike some cheap alternatives it doesn’t skate on corners.
