Bontrager Jones XR TLR 2.25 review

These are durable summer all-rounders. They're relatively slow rolling but the 2.25in front, 2.2in rear sizing gives reasonable comfort and float. The multi-block arrow front and paddle rear designs, with stickier Gumbi compound edges, are great in loose conditions.

Good in the dessert, likely to block in the mud

But there aren't many deserts in the UK and the tread soon blocks anywhere damp or soft. The hard-compound centreline tread also makes the front sketchy on damp roots and rocks.

The big carcass and Tubeless Ready design adds puncture protection and low-pressure options, though, and they're well priced. Full tubeless and 29er versions are also available.
