The minimally treaded AKA TNT tyres offer low rolling resistance and a dual-compound tread to tackle a variety of terrains. You can run the AKA as a front or rear tyre dependent on its orientation. We decided to slap ours on the rear and give it some abuse.
Initial impressions were just as we expected - fast-rolling with a preference for hard-packed surfaces. It was when we hit the slippery off-camber sections that we were surprised.
Considering its limited shoulder tread, the AKA still managed to hold its line well. Hammer it hard enough and it will step out, but the large volume and speed carrying ability certainly makes up for it.
