These new tyres from Intense are designated (by them we hasten to add) as ‘For Racing Only’. Their high performance mega sticky compound gives you loads of grip in all conditions, at the cost of them wearing out marginally faster than normal tyres.
The directional tread pattern has reasonably tall knobbles, which are spaced quite far apart giving you excellent hookups in anything soft enough to dig into, while the soft compound helps with grip on wet rocks and roots.
These 1.26kg tyres will be fine for the majority of UK riding and for the majority of the time. They’re not too happy on tarmac though, and so we’d obviously recommend them for off-road use only. The beads are snug without being impossible, so changing tyres isn’t insanely hard.
