ITS tyres are often overlooked, but the latest lightweight System 5 tyre is a responsive, lively, tubeless-ready, fit-and-forget gripper. The tread pattern with ranks of mid-height, mid-size rhomboid lugs isn’t the fastest rolling, but it clears very quick in even the claggiest conditions.
The C3 rubber compound offers decent grip in the wet without too much dry trail drag. The new LSG single-ply casing drops weight dramatically to make this a proper dragster tyre in terms of snap acceleration and it flicks and changes direction really quickly too. The 2.25in version isn’t much heavier and both are sealant compatible. You’ll need to ride light through rockeries though.
