The Short Tracker makes a great high-speed, hardcore cross-country/freeride/ jump tyre for really dry days. The thick, puncture-resistant carcass makes it slightly heavy, but there’s practically no tread and the harder centre compound keeps it fast. Occasional very low, hook-ended paddle bars give fairly stable braking/driving grip but you’ll still need to juggle brake and pedal pressure. Chunky softer compound side knobs give decent loose and loamy grip if you
can get them leaned over fast enough to catch the edges.
This tyre is seriously sketchy in the wet – particularly on the front – but it clears fast, so grip isn’t gone long.
