Decent grip, decent rolling speed and all with a fantastic price, too

Better known as a bigger tyre, the Maxxis ADvantage is a decent mid-sized performer, too. This is a crisp-feeling all-rounder for rocky rather than woodsy riding.

Despite the aggressive-looking tread, it feels fast and ‘clean’ on the trail, picking up speed very easily and rolling well, even on road climbs. Tread grip is good, too, stirring go out of all but the gloopiest mud, and with a typical Maxxis tendency to catch you at the last sketchy second.

There’s not much stiction on wet rocks and roots though, and once it’s gone it’s definitely gone. Pricing is excellent and, despite the relatively low weight, survivability is okay if you keep pressures up.
