Our review
Maxxis’s Wet Scream might be the mud racers’ choice, but for ultimate grip in mixed conditions the Swamp Thing is unbeatable value

The mix of low, wide-spaced siped and top studded tread lugs on the Maxxis Swampthing means it’ll key into almost any type of terrain with tenacity. The Super Tacky rubber compound sticks to rocks and roots like chewing gum in hair and it’s narrow enough to plough through bogs too.

Hearing other riders sliding out or smashing into trees behind you is an almost guaranteed Swamp Thing grin-increaser. The super-sticky rubber and wide spaced lugs will wipe that smile off on hard-surface climbs, but weight isn’t too bad and there’s a faster 60a option. The Single Ply version is a bargain too.
