Chunky, square shaped tread blocks and aggressive shoulder knobs help make Schwalbe's Magic Mary one of the best tyres we’ve used in mixed and wet conditions. At 920g, the Evo SnakeSkin version we tested is on par with similar rubber from other brands – for example, the Maxxis High Roller II.
In mixed conditions where you encounter harder, drier patches of trail but there’s still gloop here and there, the Magic Mary is seriously impressive. The height of the tread means it digs in well in soft mud, yet the tyre’s not so tall that it starts to feel washy or unpredictable when you encounter rocks, roots or harder packed surfaces. The sticky TrailStar compound helps here too, ensuring that things remain nice and predictable.
