Specialized Enduro Pro Tyre review

Specialized Enduro Pro Tyre review

Back in the old days, when Milky Bar still did ads on TV, Specialized made a tyre called the Ground Control and it was one of the best go-anywhere, do-anything tyres around (OK, there were far fewer tyres to choose from then).

Our review
A reasonable all-purpose trail tyre that hooks up well but could self clean faster

Back in the old days, when Milky Bar still did ads on TV, Specialized made a tyre called the Ground Control and it was one of the best go-anywhere, do-anything tyres around (OK, there were far fewer tyres to choose from then). Now they might well have done it again with the Enduro Pro.

This is a tyre with a good size carcass to carry enough air for flotation but also enough grunt not to pinch on every rock. It's got enough knobs to dig in when required, but rolls fast enough to appease the speed gods.

If it has an Achilles' heel it's that the gaps between the side knobs are a bit tight, allowing mud to pack in rather than squeeze out. That said, there seems to be enough squish to the tread to help flick out a good deal of the sticky stuff once up to speed. We tried the 2.2in and 2.3in and liked the 2.3in best for just about everything.
