Our review
Sluggish but great grip with spiky tread that clears well

A heavy aggressive tyre, well-suited to those who go gravity surfing all year round, whatever the weather.

The pure spiky tread gives this tyre incredible traction in wet grassy or muddy conditions. Once we got used to the lifting sensation of the square profile as we leaned it over, we were ripping round corners at crazy angles.

Stout support buttresses meant the super soft 'Slow Rebound' rubber stayed totally predictable and although it's relatively light for a DH tyre at under a kilo, the 2.2in Apex casing gives enough protection to take rocky options flat out as long as you keep pressure over 30psi. The ground moulding ability of the rubber was really noticeable over the slippery sections and the weight, tall spiky tread and sticky rubber make it an absolute slug in terms of singletrack speed, so gravity assistance downhill is essential.
