Designed for downhill when it’s comically muddy, the Black Turtle gets a cartoon caricature spike tread for amphibious action.
At 2.2in wide, it’s narrow enough to dig deep into slop and find the firm bits underneath, and the tall, base buttressed spikes help give it outstanding penetration. The soft compound, slow rebound rubber and file tread tips mean they don’t immediately ping off rocks and roots like most spikes either.
You need to use plenty of pressure to stop them buckling but even then there’s a noticeable smearing/ wandering sensation in corners as they flex sideways. You’ll only want them on if it’s proper wet, though.
