A good choice if you’re looking for toughness more than speed

The unusual ‘23/25’ size designation is a result of Specialized putting a 23mm-width tread on a 25mm-width casing, which is why there’s an abrupt square edge where the tread and sidewall meet. Fortunately the tread arc is big enough that you don’t find yourself skating on this corner when you bank over.

Puncture resistance is good at both sidewalls and tread, thanks to a bead-to-bead protective casing, Kevlar sub-tread and the decent thickness of rubber. Adding rubber increases weight; it also seems, despite being dual-density, to rein back rolling performance.

A word of warning: this tyre inflates larger than a standard 23mm road tyre, so make sure you have a least 5mm of spare clearance before mounting one.
