Azonic Outlaw review

The Outlaw is Azonic's new all-mountain wheelset and it's impressed us. The broad 32mm rims didn't show any signs of bending, although they're not rim brake compatible.

Our review
Highly versatile and tough wheelset, but on the weighty side

The Outlaw is Azonic's new all-mountain wheelset and it's impressed us. The broad 32mm rims didn't show any signs of bending, although they're not rim brake compatible.

Thirty six plain-gauge spokes front and rear increase strength and the wheel build is tight, with no obvious bagginess even after a deliberately hard test period.

Where these wheels really score though is their ease of use - the chunky hubs are quick-release and bolt through axle compatible at both ends. You get the relevant parts in the box, rather than having to buy them later. Big metal seals keep the muck out and the almost silent freehub still felt good after several months. A 150mm width rear hub is also available but is £10 extra.
