Our review
'Bombproof,' totally adaptable hardcore wheels at a great price

US hardcore parts people Bombshell make some serious wheelsets and the SwitchIt is their most adaptable. The super-wide 37mm Fat Daddy rims plump up even the biggest tyres and they can take a hell of a beating. The wheels are laced super-tight with 32 spokes and, apart from some initial creaking, they've stood up to the biggest drops that we've tackled.

The SwitchIt hubs are remarkably similar to the Azonic hubs, but that's no bad thing because they're well sealed and smooth running. The front hub can take either a quick-release or bolt-through axle and the rear one can handle a quick-release or bolted 12mm axle. All the adaptors and axles are supplied and the overall price is good considering the quality and strength.

Best Big Hit

If low weight is irrelevant and you want certified strength to survive certifiable riding moves, you need wheels from our Big Hit selection, and we reckon you should go for Bombshell's SwitchIts. You can pay a fortune for the super strong Spinergy Fall Lines or treat yourself to arguably the best hubs on the planet from Profile Racing, but at the end of the day, Bombshell's Fat Daddy rims are about as strong as you'll get, and the hubs are super versatile and supplied with all that you need to switch axles. Add excellent reliability and a tight overall wheel build and you've got a killer heavy duty package at an impressive price.
