Our review
Comfortable and confidence-inspiring but heavy weight for cost is obvious on hills

Bontrager's mid-depth tubular wheels are certainly eye-catching and easy to ride, but high weight is obvious under acceleration. With big graphics, glossy cosmetic weave fairing section and bladed white spokes, these wheels stand out.

The HED-designed broad rim and rounded profile provide one of the most wind-stable 50mm wheelsets around. There’s less gusting in crosswinds or reluctance to turn at higher speeds.

The smoothness from longer spokes and flexible rim fairing give it a confident, comfortable feel. However, they are heavier than the lightest comparable-cost wheels.

This cuts into bike agility and drags on climbs, making these best-suited to long, flat-courses, where cruising is key. Bags, cork brakes blocks, titanium skewers and our favourite valve extenders are included, but price is still high.
