Pros:

Bombproof build, backed with a five-year warranty, communicative ride and speedy, silky roll

Cons:

Stiffness can be unforgiving, exclusive pricing

Let's not pretend here – ENVE's HV60 Forty wheels are mad spendy when you can get tough, responsive, reliable, tubeless-ready, enduro-proof wheels for a fraction of the cost.

If you’ve got that ENVE-level cash in hand though, the brand looks after you well (as it bloody well should) with a five year warranty covering unexpected damage and half-price crash replacement. From experience you’ll be going some to ever need to call that in though as the handbuilt US rims are phenomenally tough and the construction is impeccable.

Performance is truly outstanding too, with an amazing level of clarity to tyre and trail feedback that’s enough to significantly tighten your lines and increase speeds on sections you thought you had totally dialed already. These wider HV (High Volume) rims give a very buoyant, floated but still pin sharp feel when teamed with 2.4in tyres, but still roll and accelerate like you’ve got a permanent tailwind.

Even in HV these are seriously stiff wheels though, so if you’re already on the edge of how harsh you like your bike to feel, choose something softer. The fizzing pick up on the silk smooth, Chris King hubs is a fantastic match, but you can lose weight and cost while gaining Boost options if you go for DT Swiss hubs.
