Not the toughest or stiffest but light on your bike and your pocket

The ExciteD wheels are a conventional 32-spoke build, with lightweight hubs giving a decent weight for the price. It also makes them easy to rebuild if necessary.

Stiffness suffers from the skinny spokes, with noticeable ping and ?ex when you clip rocks or crank into corners. We also managed to bend the rear wheel more easily than we expected on one of our test sections.

The six-pawl Six Drive freehub picks up swiftly and securely though, and five bearings in the rear hub spread load well for a long and happy life. Be careful what cassettes you use because single cog sets (rather than spider mounted ones) can scar the alloy body.
