Our review

Leg achingly heavy, but tough, responsive and versatile

A new, faster freehub brings this proven hardcore favourite up to trail speed. The broad, deep 28mm rims with 32 straight gauge spokes up front and 36 in the rear are as strong as many downhill wheels.

While there’s no escaping the extra effort required to get their bulk moving, you’ll never worry about backing off to protect them. Their stiffness and accuracy helps you hold onto speed through technical sections too.

The real boost for 2009, though, is the new Spin Doctor Pro rear hub, with super-quick freehub engagement for fast getaways and immediate jump/trials responsiveness.

It’ll handle a quick-release (QR) or 20mm axle up front and QR or bolted axles at the rear. These come in black or white, so fashion police take note.
