Harry Rowland review

If you want a no frills wheelset for gears or in this case a fixed wheel machine, Harry Rowland's the man. While he prefers to build with Mavic rims and charges the same price for a wheel built with their CXP22, we plumped for DRC rims.

Great value and strong

If you want a no frills wheelset for gears or in this case a fixed wheel machine, Harry Rowland's the man.

While he prefers to build with Mavic rims and charges the same price for a wheel built with their CXP22, we plumped for DRC rims that are fine once the eyelets have bedded down into the rim. The System EX double-fixed hubs are great value at around £52 to buy separately and are popular with couriers as new cartridge bearings are relatively simple to fit. The SAPIM spokes used here were evenly tensioned and are the lighter butted type that give a little more stretch than the plain gauge variety, though brake rub was only a minor issue with the wheels fitted to a stiff frame and with a heavy rider at the helm.
