Our review
Tough, totally interchangeable and light-ish all-rounders

Hope's new Pro II hubs aren't the lightest around, but they're a super versatile, rock solid interchangeable centrepiece for their new ready-made wheels. The rims themselves are DT's relatively new but already very well regarded XR4.1d disc-specific rims.

They're narrow, so won't suit tyres over 2.2in, but we've not seen a set crumple yet, despite handing out some real punishment on several examples we've ridden. Practical strength is retained with a 32 spoke, 3-cross all-round pattern, using stainless steel double butted spokes and the UK hand-built quality is resolutely tight and true.

Hope's new Pro II hubs are excellent, too. They're lighter, stronger, stiffer, better sealed than any of their previous disc hubs, and the freehub feel is particularly tight and positive, with a distinctive loud freewheeling buzz. The price is cheaper than most shops could build up a similar set for as well.
