Slow to accelerate, but low-cost, strong wheels with DH axle options...

Kore’s Torsion wheels are a tad chunky but they’re a good value, tough alternative to better-known brands.

The rims are just under 30mm but that’s enough to keep a 2.4in tyre stable, even at low pressures. The convex sidewalls have a strengthening rib, reinforcing spoke eyelets, straight-gauge Sandvik spokes and Schrader-compatible valve holes.

They’re very sturdy and have shrugged off months of downhill hammering, but their high weight makes them hard to get moving.

The front hub works with 20mm and 9mm QR axles, and the rear with 135 or 150mm axles and 12mm through-axle options. The Centerlock-style holder takes standard six-bolt rotors.
