Miche Syntium AXY wheelset review
Miche don’t have the visibility of fellow Italians Campag and Fulcrum but their aggressively priced Syntium AXY wheel is a responsive all-rounder that should be on more buyers’ radars.
The mid-height rim and alloy nipples keep outer weight low and acceleration snappy once the freehub has connected. The 18 front and 24 rear straight-pull spokes are tightly laced to keep cornering predictable if not pin sharp and they’ve stayed that way during gruelling use.
Adjustable bearings and silent freehub in the machined Ergal hubs are still butter-smooth, and long-term Miche sets we’ve used have always been well behaved.
