Sun’s MTX series has a solid reputation and this MTX 33 rim is a good choice if you like fatter tyres to feel secure. The 32-spoke build-up is tight and even.
We’ve run the Generator hubset for a service-free few years and the six-pawl, 30-tooth freehub runs quietly but engages very quickly and drives hard. Add the relatively low weight and you’ve got a very useful race wheel.
In our experience, the multiple sealed bearing internals should survive several seasons of hammering rather than dying halfway through a race.
The front is quick-release/20mm convertible and big-bike users will be pleased that the bolt-through 12mm rear comes in 150mm width too.
