Our review
A sharp, stiff and reasonable weight wheelset at a ridiculously low price

Warehouse direct Planet X wheels have been a super-popular option for years, offering decent performance at a discount price. New rims and assorted hub packages put them in a whole new value league though.

The new rims come from a big-name carbon outfit out east, and are both stiffer and lighter than the old ones. The wheels are then handbuilt in the UK.

Our exclusive first samples are outstandingly sharp and direct on the road. They aren't the most comfy we've tested, but there's no trace of wind-up or twang from the 20-spoke front, 24 rear lace-up, and braking is fine too.

Our proto set built up with a Reynolds hub at the front/Gravity Zero hub at the rear mix came in at a competitive weight, while various hub options built into wheels from £399 upwards are in the pipeline.
