Our review
A solid, well-fitting, wallet-friendly women’s specific helmet

The Tactic isn’t new but it’s still bang up to date and offers trail riders the low weight and breezy ventilation that makes Specialized’s road helmets market leaders. It also has the extended head coverage riders of real mountains feel happier with.

That said, next to some the Tactic feels lighter and a touch more sporty. The Profit 2 system is one of the most versatile and it’s rare to find a head shape it can’t conform to. We dialled in the fit quickly and easily with the rear click adjuster, and it stayed rock solid without feeling tight.

Airflow through the vents is excellent – it even borders on too much in chilly spring conditions.

What don’t we like? Not much, though a slightly shorter peak with tilt adjustment and some lighter ‘ribbon’ straps (as found on Specialized’s road helmets) would be good. And remember, chaps, there’s an identical men’s version available as well.
