Ekoi is a French online company with a track record of producing cycling kit at consumer-friendly prices. Its Corsa Evo continues that trend, even more so when you consider it can be bought with 50% off at the moment, though some sizes are selling out quickly.

In spite of the price there’s little evidence of shortcuts in construction quality and features, and it’s available in numerous colourways and custom colour options.
It has 23 vents, 10 of which are ‘exhaust ports’, has a very good weight for the price — 237g for my L/XL model — and the occipital pad can be adjusted vertically, offering three positions over a 1.5cm range.
Most impressive is the amount of hardshell coverage over the lower part of the helmet. Unusually this is not achieved by a single piece of in-moulding that wraps around the bottom, but by a separate strip. Coverage is virtually complete, which greatly reduces the effects of minor knocks on the polystyrene core.
The only part that lets the side down of this comfortable, well-vented helmet is the knurled rear adjustment ratchet, which has a distinctly plasticky look and feel to it.
As for concerns about shopping online, and not trying before you buy, if you go for it and the helmet doesn’t fit you can send it back using a prepaid label. This applies only to the European Union.
This offers you the choice of exchange, credit or refund though doesn’t apply to customised products. Some 28,000 consumer ratings suggest Ekoi is well regarded when it comes to customer service.
