Available in four sizes to fit frames between 14ins and 22.75ins, and with a sturdy alloy barrel, the Zéfal HPX is a quality bit of kit by the long-time pump maker from France.
The handle is spring-loaded for fitting the pump to the frame, but can be locked out using the dial at the top. The all-metal valve head works well, although it can be a fiddle to switch from Presta to Schrader valve types.
The HP-X is the grandaddy of frame pumps, and its styling could be considered retro if it hadn’t always looked that way. It’s pretty efficient, racking up 100psi in 140 strokes, and pushing on to nearly 120psi.
