We had high hopes for BBB’s polished aluminium HoseRoad pump, but it didn’t quite live up to them. Yes, it’s a small lightweight pump, but it took us roughly 250 strokes to get up to around 80psi – which would be enough for an emergency – at which point the pump was starting to get heated indeed.
We liked the hose, which is concealed within the barrel, and the secure screw-on chuck, and having the hose at the handle end stops you pinching your skin during use. But it doesn’t have the performance or the solidity of the best mini pumps, and reaching it’s claimed maximum pressure of 123psi would require a serious effort .
