A beautifully crafted and robust combi-pump Buy if, You're after a sleek looking and compact combi-pump, and don't mind paying a bit more for kit that is built to last

Pros:

Small, light and easy to use

Cons:

Effort required, small handle, cost

You’re bound to be impressed by the finish of the Topeak Hybrid Rocket HP's CNC-machined aluminium body, barrel and handle — it’s beautifully crafted, but does it deliver?

  • Weight: 98g
  • Length: 19cm
  • Stroke: 10.5cm
  • Pressure at 100 strokes: 22psi

The inflator has a fixed, pull-out hose featuring Topeak’s neat SmartHead Threadlock which, with a few turns, can be adjusted to fit Presta or Schrader valves. The hose is stored in the handle and features an integral dust cap to keep crud at bay.

The non-slip rubber grip makes for secure manual pumping, especially on hot sweaty days, but you have to be careful not to catch your fingers while doing so because of the (inevitably) short pump handle.

When using a threaded CO2 cartridge (one is supplied), it screws in at the grip end and tyre inflation is very straightforward — again, there’s an integral dust cap to keep everything clean.

The Hybrid Rocket HP is a robust combi-pump that’s built-to-last but undermined by the effort needed to get tyres up to pressure and the initial outlay.
