Beautifully engineered and well designed – deserving of a top spot in your kit bag

The first thing that strikes you about the PRO S-Slide is how slim it is, but thankfully out of that sleekness comes strength.

The tools are engineered with a square box section at the base with the functional part at the tip, so despite their relative slimness there’s little rotational twist. This makes them very efficient and precise to use, particularly on the smaller Allen keys, and long enough to reach into fiddly spots.

The S-Slide splits into two parts: one side contains 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8mm Allen keys, two Phillips screwdrivers, a T25 Torx driver and a 4mm flat screwdriver; the other side slides off, doubles as a tyre lever and has a chain tool, three spoke spanners, 8, 9 and 10mm sockets on a magnetised plate, and a chain pin holder.

The quality of the nickel-plated tools is good, and the separation of chain tool from the main chassis makes this an easy tool to use. It weighs just 173g and comes in its own pouch.

The 8mm Allen key fits over the 5mm one, but unlike on some other multi-tools, a ball bearing secures it in place, making it much less likely to get lost. If we were being really fussy we’d like this to be even more secure, but that’s a minor quibble – this is a superb bit of kit.
