This 11-piece kit covers most jobs associated with a bike’s brakes and transmission but omits a tool for removing the plastic retaining nut on the left-hand crank.
Otherwise, the cassette removal tool has a handy locating dowel that helps prevent slipping, and the tool for holding the chainring nut works well, as do the spoke key and chain wear gauges.
The Y-shaped Allen key is useful, but the handle fouled the seat tube when we tried to fix a rear brake centre bolt on a bike with chunky chainstays.
The chain splitter is of inferior quality to the rest of the tools in the kit. A version is also available for Campagnolo aficionados.
