Solid workstand that comes with a bag for easy storage and travelling

The Minoura RS6000’s twist-out tripod legs provide a nicely solid base whether you’re wrenching at a 24-hour race or taking over the kitchen floor space.

We liked the clamp with its easy, one-handed push-then-twist operation, although rotating the bike gave us our only niggle with this stand. Pressing catch that frees it to move is easy enough, but the ratchet system is a little clunky and it’s not quite as easy as the similarly-priced Ultimate Pro Classic to get a precise fix.

The overall feel is more industrial, too: the fittings have a more plastic, less touchy-feely rubberized quality. However, the stand can be used right out of the box, unfolds and fixes fast, then can be quickly stowed flat again.

The price for the Minoura RS 6000 includes a carry bag, protecting both the stand and anything you unwittingly throw it on to in that sleep-deprived packing frenzy that typically ends races. This could be the deciding factor for you if you travel a lot.

Despite it not being quite as smooth as the Ultimate, we really liked this stand. It’s a stable, versatile unit that makes up for in straightforward practicality what it lacks in looks.

So, if you have a £200 ceiling to your budget, but lead a happy wandering life that means you really want a bag for your stand, then you won’t be disappointed.
