Our review
Impressively light, yes, but super expensive in comparison to the best of the rest

The Kaos UL is claimed to save 50g over the standard (and £15 cheaper) Kaos, only our sample doesn’t: the standard large Kaos we compared it to weighed a scant 15g more.

The extra £15 buys you Kevlar straps, a gel forehead pad to reduce the chance of sweat dripping into your eyes, and MET’s Ultamalite construction.

Head coverage is generous, as you’d expect from a helmet aimed at more aggressive riders, and the full-circumference cradle is easy to adjust, providing good, solid support. The in-moulded shell extends around the base at the rear, and the weight is undeniably low for its class.

If you want a light trail-styled lid then there’s nothing wrong with the UL, however it’s increased in price by £25 since we last tested it and

is now 45% more expensive than the similar quality Bell Sequence and Specialized Vice, so you’re paying a premium for the light weight.
