Good value, well vented, inoffensive looking lid with a car on the side. We like

Let’s not beat about the bush, this is a budget full-face helmet trying to look a lot like the industry standard Troy Lee Designs D2. But look a bit deeper, and the Skad packs some decent features.

It’s made from fully certificated-up fibreglass and you get double D-ring fastening along with removable and washable pads. There are 14 vents to help keep things cool.

Available in five different sizes, once on, it’s heavier than the top dogs but not enough to detract from the cheaper price tag.

The visor features a strange clip-on chrome trim and does sit a little too low, which means it can get in your eye-line a bit. This problem is easily overcome though by running it outside the constraints of the central adjuster.

You may pay a bit of a weight penalty, and the fit and finish might not be up there with the dream lids but the Skad does cost half the price of them and we reckon it looks the part too.
