A good looking racing-style helmet let down by poor retention

Selev's XP helmet has some nice touches: its two rear reflectors enhance its visibility at night and its soft internal pads provide plenty of comfort.

But strangely, if you remove the rear two pads – which are attached by Velcro – you also completely remove the main back retention.

This helmet uses tabs to open and close a ratchet. However, a combination of flat, smooth tabs and a stiff mechanism makes for awkward adjusting.

The whole retention system can pivot vertically to comfortably hug the base of your skull, but when riding we found the helmet kept tipping upwards.
