Not the prettiest helmet on this test, but sleek and light

This is very light for a budget lid, and it’s all the better for it. Suiting tall, narrow heads and available in four sizes, the Chamonix is reasonably cool – despite lacking side vents – because the vertical rear slots are very effective.

It meets the tough Snell B90 safety standard and is well worth considering if you want to go lightweight on a strict budget.

Styling is odd and looks awful with the peak removed, but Specialized’s FORM Fit retention system is exceptionally quick and easy to adjust.

The corners of the very square peak protrude into vision.

It does feel far less substantial than some other helmets on test, as a result of the minimal shell.
