Specialized Sport Wireless Computer review
Remember when bike computers needed a yard of thin electrical cable, with all the structural integrity of angel hair, to connect the bar-mounted head unit to the fork-mounted sensor? Thankfully, those days are long gone. Wireless technology is here and, for our money, is the only way to go.
This Sport model is Specialized’s entry-level wireless computer, yet it still provides you with data on current, maximum and average speeds, total and trip distances, plus time and stopwatch facilities. It also has a nifty ‘speed comparator’ setting which allows you to compare your actual speed with your average calculated speed.
Setting up the computer is a piece of cake — a genuine five-minute job — as is fitting the wheel/fork sensor and bar bracket, which are all done with zip ties.
Understanding how far and fast you’ve been going is the easiest way to keep tabs on your riding and performance, and although the boffins tell us speed is no longer the best form of performance monitoring, it is still useful, easy to understand and will give you a target to beat. And whether we’re racers preparing for a challenge or just like to bimble about the local woods at weekends, we all need something to chase. This is the easiest way to put some stats into your riding.
