They do the job, but the tube is a bit fiddly when you're on the move

Glucotabs are, as the name implies, glucose tablets. They come in refillable plastic tubes of 10 as well as larger bulk tablet packs to refill from. Each largish tablet contains 4g of carbohydrates from dextrose, cellulose and maltodextrin, so they are an ideal portable energy supplement.

In testing, the effect of the tablet was felt really quickly with a noticeably improved increase in stamina and performance. While chalky to the touch they don't feel chalky in the mouth, with the taste and texture of 'refreshing' sweets we used to eat as kids.

Although the refillable plastic tube protects the tabs from water, dirt, sweat and breakage (a must as they easily disintegrate), we didn't find them ideal for use when cycling. The problem is that it's easy to get the lid off one-handed (which is great) but it then flips into the road (which is not so great). And it's near impossible to replace the lid one-handed as it separates completely from the tube. We thought it would be easier to empty some of the tablets into a pocket and use them from there, but after a drop of rain we now have a jersey with a sunset yellow stain... so that wasn't such a good idea! Available in orange and raspberry flavours.
