Our review
The D2 retains all the features that made it a classic without the price hikes of other premium models

Several years ago, the D2 was the full-face helmet to have, and each of the many design options left onlookers in no doubt that it was a Troy Lee sat on your head. While Troy Lee has superseded it with the pricier D3, the D2 remains an unchanged classic for a reason.

Weighing in at just over 1,000g, it certainly isn’t heavy, and the matte black option reviewed here oozes typically understated cool. Many of the features that are now standard on other helmets have always been found on the D2 – the D-ring buckle, easily removable Velcro cheek pads, and the bolted, adjustable visor.

While the exterior vents aren’t the largest, the inner polystyrene shell hides deep airflow channels that keep the D2 comfortable in use, and the fit is excellent.

It might not be revolutionary or shout out for attention, but the D2 remains a great choice for those seeking tried and tested quality.
